Bulgaria: 11 Indicted In Crime Ring

Eleven members of a Bulgarian crime group face charges of murder and drug trafficking. Eight were arrested Friday while three more remain wanted.

The National Police operation was conducted in Pernik, a town where a number of dead bodies had recently been found.

According to Bulgarian English-language news source Novinite, the group is believed to have killed at least seven individuals. Police found human remains believed to belong to at least three victims.

The operation nabbed organization ringleaders Vasil Vasilev and Milcho Petrov. Vasilev was heavily armed and armored when arrested with multiple firearms and bladed weapons

The group is believed to have dealt drugs and carried out contract killings for nearly a decade.
