Padejski joins the third class of fellows to focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership in journalism. He will join 11 American journalists who will be studying at Stanford during the 2011-2012 academic year.
This year's Fellows will undertake projects focused on making data mining tools more accessible to journalists and developing an online platform for the sharing of Freedom of Information documents. Fellows will also create innovative ways to use technology to make Arab governments more accessible and U.S. Mideast policy more transparent.
Padejski also plans to critically examine public records practices in the U.S. and the Balkans in order to develop an online sharing platform.
Padejski is the second OCCRP journalist to receive a Knight Fellowship. Paul Radu, a founding member of the Organized Crime and Corruption Project and now the organization’s executive director, was part of first class of Knight Fellows. During his time at Stanford, he created the Investigative Dashboard, an innovative web platform where investigative journalists can look for corporate data, receive assistance on a project from experienced reporters and access data-analysis software.

Djordje Padejski, an investigative reporter with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project and a founder of the Center for Investigative Reporting in Serbia, has been awarded a John S. Knight Fellowship to study at Stanford University. He is one of only nine journalists named this year.
